Summary

I am claiming that this is the best home theater projector in its category! For those that want a projector that performs extremely smoothly in fast-action scenes, games or sports, this is your answer. The W1200 has special technology to get it done. It also has great POP which will give you that HDTV feel where it seems as if you’re right there in the audience and it’s happening right in front of you. Especially the dimmer the lights go the more of an effect it will bring. I used to be semi-sensitive to RBE, but when I found out this projector had a 4x color wheel, I thought it would definitely be enough. Regardless, those who know or don’t know if they are sensitive I warn that they purchase from a retailer that has a grace period for returns just in case. Everyone is prone to RBE differently and it isn’t just on the BenQ W1200, it’s on all DLP projectors. However the percentage of population prone to it overall is a mere 5%.

What are the strengths?

I think it definitely beats movie theaters, even IMAX. The quality is literally similar to an IPS monitor, it’s perfect. Many would probably argue otherwise, but that’s my opinion! I also love how you can do picture in picture setups and can toggle between two feeds. It’s great for sports and I know for a fact that DLPs are sharper with detail and content than LCDs are. Also I read in a review that the W1200 is probably the sharpest projector in its entire category of entry levels. That is unbelievable, and it’d be great if you want to use it for sports or games!

What are the weaknesses?

Those who are extremely sensitive to RBE may not be able to enjoy the pure awesomeness of this projector.
